Script Excerpt
ORH: Yes, your poems are beautiful. I need to translate them.
IMAN:…Excuse me?
ORH: You could raise the dead with your poems. Raise whole cities from dust back to skin. I have read them in the Arabic, I have heard you read them in English.
IMAN(intrigued): Inti bichki Arabi? [You speak Arabic?]
ORH: Eyewa, ana bachki Arabi. [Yes, I speak some Arabic.]
IMAN: You’re not Lebanese.
ORH: No. My reading is better than my speaking.
IMAN: (smiling a little) You look very young. How old are you?
ORH: Too old. Just like you. Give me this copy, let me make you translations, perfect translations. I will bring them to you, you will see for yourself.
IMAN: Into what language do you translate?
ORH: Into Hebrew.
Iman flinches. Beat.
